Jesús López Baltasar
Sculptor
Punta de Mita
November 1, 2026
Seventeen years in Punta de Mita, seven of them carving wood and found materials into pieces inspired by the sea.

Jesús López Baltasar is originally from Guerrero and has lived in Punta de Mita for 17 years.
He first came to town to work in construction, but over time he wanted to make something of his own, something more creative. For the past seven years, he has been creating sculptures by hand, transforming wood and found natural materials into pieces inspired by the sea and the place he now calls home.
His work is made slowly and intuitively, using what he finds around him and letting the shape of each material guide what it becomes.
You can find him on Avenida El Anclote, the main avenue, selling his beautiful hand-made sculptures.
